The first concert of Shkoon after Covid-19 changed our lives. Shkoon comes up with a new format of musicians and new sounds & Songs. The band released their long-awaited debut album “Rima” in December 2019, followed by a huge album tour, including sold out Knust concert.
We are happy to welcome Shkoon again for a small intimate concert in the front of Knust. A headphone concert with Ameen Khayer (Vocal), Thorben Dickmann (live-set & Synth) and Julian Maier-Hauff (Trumpet). The concert has to be seated and will be open air.
With their music they send out a message of cultural diversity to the world. But the band is more than a German-Syrian live act with Arabic lyrics. In addition to their own lyrics, the band uses traditional musical folklore elements of the Arab community, which today appear more relevant than ever. In their sets, oriental melodies partner up with occidental electronics and create an atmosphere filled with texture and spice. The album is situated between influences of electronic downbeat, deep house, dub and hip-hop. Piano, trumpet, synthesizers, percussion and vocals merge oriental melodies with western electronic beats, taking the listener on a journey that blurs the boundaries of cultures. Sometimes it ́s deep, sometimes it ́s light. It can make you dream and it can make you weep. One thing is sure: It will move you in countless of ways if you let it. Ameen and Thorben met in the hanseatic city of Hamburg in 2015, after Ameen left his home country Syria due to the war. During a spontaneous jam session, an unexpected energy and thus the project Shkoon emerged, which was soon followed by the release of the band’s very first EP a few months later. During the first performances of Shkoon, a spark quickly jumped over to the audience, which soon allowed the group to play major festival stages all over Europe and later internationally.
