„Hast Du Bock, ne EP mit uns zu machen?“ fragte Mathias Modica vom Berliner Label Kryptox David Nesselhauf im Lockdown-Frühling 2020. Klar hatte er. Die 12″ EP erscheint am 25.6.2021 überall, wo es Schallplatten gibt. David bringt natürlich auch welche zum Konzert mit. Außerdem im Gepäck eine unglaubliche Band, bestehend aus Chris Haertel (Organ, Synths, FX), Julian Gutjahr (Drums, FX) und Graeme Currie (Guitar, FX). Zu erwarten ist nichts weniger als die Vertonung eines intergalaktischen Verkehrsunfalls, eines Raketenstarts unter dem Meer und der Reparaturversuch einer alten Krups Kaffeemaschine im Beisein von Starkstrom, Katzen und Helium. Doch, dazu kann und soll man tanzen, sofern es die Corona-Auflagen zulassen. Und dem ist so: Knust Indoor: 2G-Veranstaltung !

On „Rituals EP“ DN salutes his personal pantheon of musical gods once again, leading the listener through the Afrokraut Jungle encompassing Krautrock, Downbeat, Drone, Electronica, Afrobeat, Lo-Fi, Shoegaze, Funk and Ambient textures in the blink of an eye.

Afrokraut by definition, the 6 tracks of the EP share a common feel, but are colorful individuals at the same time.

Four playful, raw basic jams were recorded live within hours by the Diazpora rhythm section, shanghaied by DN during a soundcheck for a diazpora video shooting. Another track features DN´s trusty Vermona Drum Synthesizer as the main rhythm ingredient. One more track was recorded with Julian Gutjahr, Drummer for The Drawbars. Some of the tracks feature guest appearances by Dennis Rux (he also mixed the EP) and Graeme Currie on guitar. Soulamadou made his way to one of the tracks just by incidentally leaving a very groovy voice message on David´s phone („Zeit“).
The material was later bewitched into deep, organic swirls: Trippy, psychedelic krautrock, afrobeat, surf and electronic elements somnambulistically creeped into the songs. The rather mystical, nocturnal reworking process of the recording added even more dimension and depth, leaving the 6 Tracks ready for the dancefloor and an otherworldly listening experience at the same time.
