Formed in 1980, they released the seminal ‘FIGHT BACK’ album in 1981 and began a manic couple of years on the road. Their a…udience grew rapidly into a new kind of following. Their fusion of ‘Rockabilly’ and ‘New Wave’ caused the press to call them Neo Rockabilly. In 1982 they recorded an experimental E.P. under the name ‘THE G-MEN’ the song ‘GOTTA GO’ from that record opened a new chapter in their career. By late 1983 they were working on the songs that would form the basis of the next stage on their journey ‘BELTANE FIRE’. After a hugely successful year on the Alternative London club circuit they signed to SONY records in late 1984 and in 1985 recorded ‘DIFFERENT BREED’. They spent the next couple of years touring, never really being at home with a major that in those days required the bloody Single! In 1989 the band re-located to New York under the name ‘FLAME OF THE WEST’ During this period they were a three piece, they started to play at CBGB’s and things started to move again but due to an injury one of the band had to return to England and they lost the momentum. In 1992 they recorded again as ‘THE BLUE CATS’ the result was the critically acclaimed album ‘THE TUNNEL’. They then spent another year on the road together but in 1993 decided to go their separate ways to pursue other projects. In 2008 after not seeing each other for 15 years they agreed to reform for a festival gig, BANG! The vibe was back. Over the last eighteen months or so the band have been writing together again, and now believes they have a collection of the best songs they have ever worked on together. In April 2012 they will begin to record a new studio album, that will be released in the Autumn of 2012 . With a string of highly successful gigs across Europe in 2011 and an ever increasing number of new dates to look forward to in 2012, THE BLUE CATS ARE ALL SYSTEMS go!!!!!
