Tech-metal outfit FALLUJAH expand horizons and solidify their position as one of America’s most exciting artists on their new album, Xenotaph, through Nuclear Blast. The Bay Area-based quintet’s confidence in the lineup that made their previous album, Empyrean (2022), such a resounding success—earning high marks from Metal Injection, New Noise, and Guitar World—has been reconfigured slightly, with guitarist Sam Mooradian (INHALE EXISTENCE, SAM MOORADIAN) and drummer Kevin Alexander (DISEMBODIED TYRANT. BROUGHT BY PAIN) bringing their jaw-dropping musical proficiency to the fold, as vocalist Kyle Schaefer, guitarist Scott Carstairs, and bassist Evan Brewer enter a new chapter with FALLUJAH. Since the early 2000s, Swedish melodic death metal band In Mourning have steadily built a devoted international fanbase. With six acclaimed studio albums and several EPs under their belt, the Dalecarlian quartet return with their seventh full-length release, The Immortal – arriving two years after their previous album, The Bleeding Veil.
Staying true to their signature blend of melancholic melodies and crushing heaviness, The Immortal sees the band further refine and expand their sonic identity. Fronted by the dynamic vocal duo of Björn Pettersson and Tobias Netzell – whose deep growls and soaring clean vocals offer striking contrast – the album explores themes of personal struggle and philosophical reflection.
Guitarist Tim Nedergård provides intricate lead work, while drummer Cornelius Althammer lays down powerful, precise rhythms. With emotive melodies, melodic riffing, and an unmistakable intensity, In Mourning deliver a compelling experience both on record and on stage.
